Silver shampoo against orange glow in your hair

If something goes wrong while bleaching your hair, bleaching can leave your hair with an orange glow. During bleaching, your hair is decolorized, and because you have red pigment in your hair, the bleaching can get stuck in the process of ‘red pigment bleaching’. For example, because the bleaching is not strong enough. Or because you have a lot of red pigment in your hair. But also when your hair is too long and too thick for just one package of bleaching. Before bleaching your hair, it is recommended that you first dye a single section of hair. That advice is really worth following. Once a small section of hair has been dyed, you know what color to expect, as long as you use exactly the same ratio on the rest of your hair. Bleaching your hair is not very easy. Things often go wrong. If you rinsed out the dye too early, so that the bleaching process did not complete the entire bleaching process, your hair may also get an orange glow. For example, the result is a red, orange or yellow glow in your hair. Blonde is a very light hair color, and when you want to bleach your hair, something often doesn’t go your way. The hair may not appear to have the desired color after bleaching. Bleaching can also seriously damage your hair. You rarely see bleached hair that is still long (in the long term). Bleaching always damages the hair, often in such a way that it breaks off more quickly, becomes frizzy, and as a result requires more frequent cutting. Especially if you have little experience with bleaching your hair, the hair color may turn out differently than you had hoped. Frequently heard complaints may include:

  • the hair is too yellow
  • the hair is orange
  • it is actually too white

A lot more can go wrong if you bleach your hair yourself. Hair is fragile. Dyeing, bleaching and bleaching is aggressive for your hair. If you strictly follow the instructions on the packaging, you have the best chance of achieving the desired result. Especially when bleaching and bleaching, your hair can have to endure a lot from dyeing. After bleaching, the hair will always be dry and lifeless for a while. If the treatment was too aggressive, or you did something wrong, you may experience other problems:

  • the hair is brittle after the treatment
  • the hair is seriously damaged
  • the hair is burned by aggressive bleaching

Orange hair

If your hair has turned orange instead of blond after an attempt to bleach it, it is best to consult with your hairdresser about the best course of action. Orange hair can look very nice in itself, but if you didn’t have that in mind then you probably won’t be happy with it. Orange hair will most often occur with bleaching on:

  • dark blond hair
  • Brown hair
  • black hair

If you have naturally blond hair, your hair will be less likely to turn orange or yellow with stronger bleaching. Dark blonde hair does contain a lot of red pigment and can more easily turn out red, orange or yellow.

Bleaching failed?

To bleach the hair, a new treatment is required, and all in all, bleaching twice in a row is bad for your hair. It is best for a hairdresser to dye your hair the right color. If you bleach your hair and you are left with an orange glow, it is because the bleaching was not strong enough in relation to your hair. The orange glow may also only be visible locally. Modern bleaching is very capable of strongly bleaching your hair, but if you have very dark hair, and/or a lot of, and/or long hair, just one pack is not always enough. Before you buy bleach, read on the packaging what is recommended for long hair, dark hair, and for thick and/or a lot of hair. Sometimes it is recommended to use two packages for long hair. Only do this if it is explicitly recommended.

Treating orange glow in your hair

If you have an orange glow to your hair, you can compensate for this with silver shampoo. If your hair has an orange glow after bleaching, you often also have yellow-blonde hair. Silver shampoo compensates for this color. You can expect some effect from this, but no miracles. The more your hair tends towards orange or even red, the less effect silver shampoo will have. Give your hair a week of rest and ask a hairdresser how you can best treat your hair further.

How well does silver shampoo work against an orange glow?

Silver shampoo has been developed to make blond hair less yellow and to revive natural gray hair. It is also suitable for keeping the dyed color a little longer with the so-called granny hair trend (dyed gray hair). Silver shampoo works reasonably well on yellowish bleached hair, but on hair with an orange glow, silver shampoo only works somewhat. Silver shampoo simply does not contain substances that are so powerful that it can mask orange hair. A silver shampoo can reduce the orange effect overall, but certainly cannot eliminate it.
