Foot reflexology, as part of our care

Foot reflexology, foot reflexology or foot reflexology, these are all different words for a proven therapy that not only addresses the basics but is also relaxing. Yet it is not as common as regularly going to the beautician, the sauna or even a periodic chat with the psychologist. Foot reflexology is in the alternative corner and not everyone is aware of the fact that this can be of added value. Add to that the unknown and you see the disadvantage that foot reflexology has as part of the total care package.

Basic care

For many people, basic care ends with brushing their teeth and washing or taking a shower every day. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, but as soon as you realize that you can do much more for yourself and you can feel very comfortable with it, you realize that there is more than a clean mouth and clean skin.

We have now also realized as a permanent part of our lives that what those Scandinavians do, we can also do to relax, the sauna in all its forms and possibilities. The beautician can optimize the facial and décolleté skin again and remove unwanted hair. The hairdresser optimizes our cut and the manicure ensures that we have beautiful hands again. Yet we do not go further than a pedicure with the feet and often only because it is medically necessary. In the same way, foot reflexology therapy could be a permanent part of personal care. How does it work?

What is foot reflexology?

We classify feeding reflex therapy, which comes from China, as pseudoscientific alternative medicine. This means that it has not been scientifically recorded as we are used to, but there are many supporters or people who have benefited from it or still benefit from it.

The basis lies in the fact that all organs and body parts are connected to places on the foot. Certain parts of the foot therefore correspond to the heart, lungs, kidneys, etc. By tackling the zones – you can feel where an obstacle is on the foot – you achieve a better energy flow in the body. Energy flow is the basis for foot reflexology and is linked one-on-one to diseases that may arise. We can influence these energy channels at around 800 points in the body.

Not a replacement for Western medicine

Foot reflexology is not a replacement for Western medicine, but it can be a valuable addition/supplement. On the one hand to optimize energy flow, which certainly cannot do any harm during a disease process, and on the other hand because it has a wonderfully relaxing effect. It helps you to recharge, so to speak, and even then it cannot do any harm during a disease process.

As a relaxation and optimizer

We don’t go to the beautician if we already have dirty skin, we want to avoid it and maintain that radiant skin. You go to the sauna because you know that it is good for body and mind and not if, for example, you are already depressed at home and the stress has become too much for you. Why not use reflexology periodically? Keeping the energy channels optimal, so that everything can flow properly and a very pleasant side effect is that the feet are also wonderfully massaged. This gives a refreshing feeling when you’re done. In this way you also work on body and mind with foot reflexology, it brings/keeps you in balance again.

How can foot reflexology support you?

Because it addresses everything in the body, there is a long list of areas in which reflexology can play a role.

  • the respiration
  • stress and burnout
  • muscles and joints
  • headache and migraine
  • (temporary) fatigue

Foot reflexology can play a positive role in the above complaints. See it as a supporting role in which body processes are put into place.

Finally

Foot reflexology is centuries old and although not scientifically established, it is a method that has many followers and therefore people who have benefited from it. Make it part of those periodic things that we find so important for our own well-being.
