Morning sickness or motion sickness? The Sea-Band helps!

Pregnant women often suffer from morning sickness during the first three months. Other people and children suffer from motion sickness or seasickness, or become nauseous from chemotherapy. All this can make you feel really bad. There are some homeopathic remedies that might help, but now there is something that really helps: the Sea-Band.

Nausea

Nausea can have various causes. For example, there is nausea due to overeating, stress, excessive alcohol consumption, but also due to pregnancy, motion sickness or seeing or smelling something that one finds unpleasant. Nausea can also be caused by an illness or by taking medication. For example, there is often nausea with chemotherapy, but nausea can also occur with antidepressants or ergotamine.
People often vomit when they feel nauseous. Both vomiting and feeling nauseous are controlled by a specific area in the brain, namely the vomiting center. The vomiting center is, among other things, under the influence of the vestibular organ and the gastrointestinal tract.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine in China. It is even the most important form of medicine there, just like in Japan and several countries in Asia. Acupuncture assumes that body, mind and environment are one whole and cannot be separated in health and illness. According to Chinese teachings, a system of meridians runs through our entire body. They are also called energy channels or ‘qi’ and our life energy flows through them. All organs are connected to these meridians. If there is a disturbance of the balance in our body, this can be remedied by influencing the relevant meridians. This is often done using needles, but it can also be done by applying pressure to special places on the body. Each meridian runs to a specific place and when pressure is applied there, the complaints can disappear.

Sea Band

The Sea-Band is a soft band that can be worn around the wrist. It is stretchy, so it fits everyone. There is a children’s size and an adult size. The band contains a push button, which uses acupressure to exert gentle pressure on the ‘Nei-Kuan’ point in both wrists. There is an effect within a few minutes and has no side effects. The band may be worn as long and as often as necessary.
If a woman feels nauseous due to her pregnancy, she can wear the bands every day. If a child becomes carsick after fifteen minutes in the car, the straps can provide relief within a few minutes. The strap is applied to the wrist, at the ‘Nei-Kuan’ point. This can be found by looking for the top line between your wrist and your hand. Once you have that, place the three middle fingers of your other hand underneath it. At the level of the bottom finger is the ‘Nei-Kuan’ point and that is where the pressure point of the Sea-Band should be placed.

Availability

The Sea-Band is available at Etos, De Tuinen and various online web shops. A set of two tires costs between 12.50 and 15.00.
