Lose weight quickly with the Metabolism Miracle diet

The “Metabolism Miracle” diet was developed by American nutrition expert Diane Kress. In her book “The Metabolism Miracle, 3 easy steps to regain control of your weight…permanently” she explains that a diet is not the solution for everyone to lose weight.

Metabolism B syndrome

Diets assume that everyone has the same metabolism. However, scientific research shows that approximately 45% of people who follow a diet have Metabolism B syndrome. This is a hereditary condition where you feel hungry and your body overprocesses carbohydrates, converting them into body fat. The body releases too much of the hormone insulin, which is necessary to balance your blood sugar levels. People with metabolism B syndrome quickly feel like eating again after a meal, which makes losing weight difficult. This syndrome can be caused by stress, illness and hormonal changes.

Eating regularly

When someone has this syndrome, eating less is not the way to lose weight. It is then more important to eat something regularly, preferably every five hours. This way your blood sugar level remains more constant and you feel more energetic. Your body requires much less carbohydrates, which means that the overreaction to carbohydrates also disappears. The end result is weight loss. Diane Kress also recommends exercising for 30 minutes five times a week while dieting to further accelerate weight loss.

The three-step diet

Cleansing the body

In the first phase of the Metabolism Miracle diet your body is cleansed. This phase lasts eight weeks. During this period, your body is reprogrammed to process carbohydrates in a healthier way. Your fat cells shrink and you lose weight.
In this phase you should eat as few carbohydrates as possible. It is important to eat something every five hours (five times a day), including before going to sleep and immediately after getting up. This way, your blood sugar level remains stable and your metabolism continues to run at a good pace. By eating something regularly, your body has to keep working, so you burn calories faster and lose weight. You can consume 5 grams of carbohydrates with each of these five meals. However, carbohydrates are necessary for your body, so this phase is only a short-term solution.

Slowly add carbohydrates to your meals again

In the long term, it is important that you permanently change your eating habits. In this phase of the diet you can slowly start eating carbohydrates again. It is important to eat carbohydrates with a low impact. These types of carbohydrates release energy in a slow, steady manner when digested. Also, every product you eat should contain more than 2 grams of fiber per serving. All whole grain products are a good option. You can consume good fats such as avocados, oils, nuts and seeds. This also applies to fish, shellfish, lean meat such as chicken and turkey. You have to be careful not to eat too many carbohydrates; at each meal this should remain between 11 and 20 grams per portion.

In addition to eating five times a day, drink plenty of fluids

During the third step of this diet it is important that you drink enough, at least two liters of water per day. Tea and sugar- and caffeine-free soft drinks are also allowed. Your body produces a lot of waste in this phase because you are burning more and more fat. These substances can be removed from the bloodstream by drinking enough fluids. If you don’t drink enough, too many toxins enter your blood. Your brain then receives a signal to draw fluids from your tissues to flush these substances away. Your body will burn less fat (so weight loss will be slower) until your blood is purified.
Kress also recommends taking vitamin supplements twice a day after meals in this phase of the diet. For example, vitamin E can help prevent cell damage from free radicals. Calcium helps you lose weight and fish oil reduces the risk of heart disease and helps lower blood pressure.
