The world of makeup is immense. How do we find the right way in this vast selection? What products are there and what are they used for? What should I pay attention to when choosing the right foundation? When should I wear lipstick and when should I choose a lip gloss? Here is a brief overview of all products.
Facial products
Primer
A primer is a transparent or very light-colored liquid. It is applied to the face before all other makeup is applied. It ensures that the make-up itself lasts longer, but also that the skin looks more even. Small lines and wrinkles are filled by the primer.
Concealer
A concealer is used to camouflage imperfections on the face. There are different types. For example, you can buy concealer in a stick, but there are also palettes with different colors of concealer.
A light color concealer is used to highlight. You can use it under your eyes, at the top of the nose bridge and on the chin. A dark color concealer is used to create more depth. It is best to apply this just below the cheekbones and on the sides of the nose. There is also green concealer. Green camouflages red. You can use this to get rid of red cheeks or red spots. An orange concealer is used to camouflage blue. For example, you can use it against blue circles under the eyes.
Foundation
After applying the primer and concealer, apply a layer of foundation. You can buy a foundation in a liquid form or in a solid form. The liquid form generally provides better coverage. Take your skin type into account when choosing a foundation. If you suffer from oily skin, it is better to choose a foundation with a mousse structure. If you tend to have a dry house, you can opt for an oil-based foundation. Foundation must be exactly the same color as your own face, otherwise it will quickly look unnatural. To choose the right color you must test it on the back of your hand.
Powder
Powder can be used, among other things, to fix make-up. Apply a thin layer of light or even white powder to the face. This will help the makeup stay in place better.
Powder can also be used to contour the face. This means highlighting the beautiful sides of the face with a light color powder and concealing the less beautiful sides with a dark color powder. Contouring can even optically give your face a completely different shape.
Cheeks
Blush
A blush is applied to the apples of the cheeks. You can vary endlessly in this. The colors range from bright pink to peach to even a brown color. Blush can be purchased in powder, solid and liquid form. The powder form lasts the least long, but is easy to use. You decide how much color you apply with your brush and you can easily touch up. With the solid form, it is best to apply the cream blush with your fingers. It is better not to apply powder to your face beforehand because it can become grainy. The liquid form lasts longest. It is a color that really penetrates your skin. So start with caution because it is difficult to remove.
Bronzer
Bronzer is used to give your face a tanned skin. It is usually only applied in the summer when you already have a tan from the sun.
Eyes
Eye shadow
Eye shadow can be found in all possible colors. Neutral colors such as brown, taupe and beige suit everyone. If you prefer to experiment with color, it is best to take your own eye color into account. Eye shadow is also available in powder and cream form. The cream eye shadow will appear more striking, but will quickly creep into the arcade arch after a while. Powdered eye shadow has a more subtle color. You can apply any powder eyeshadow with a wet brush, this will make the color more striking.
Eyeliner
To complete an eye look, you can draw a line above your shop with eyeliner. Eyeliner comes in all possible colors, but the most beautiful is of course black. Avoid a line under the eyes, on the waterline. This makes your eyes appear smaller.
Mascara
Everyone should own a mascara. Make sure you have a black or dark brown one in your collection. Furthermore, they also come in almost every color imaginable, but these are less wearable.
Lips
Lipstick
Lipstick lasts a little longer than lip gloss. You can choose a subtle color, but also a bright red. To properly fix your lipstick, bite on a piece of paper after application. You will notice that the excess lipstick remains on the paper. This will make your lipstick last much longer.
Lip gloss
Lip gloss is a sticky substance that gives a nice shine to your lips. You can apply it straight away, but also over a layer of lipstick. Lip gloss does not last long. You will have to reapply it regularly.
Lipstain
Lipstain is a liquid product that you apply to your lips. The color is completely absorbed into your lips. The advantage of this is that you do not have sticky lips and that the color does not transfer to other surfaces.
Eyebrows
Eyebrow powder
If you have light colored eyebrows you can also update them with powder. Make sure the color is not too dark. Eyebrows shape your face and if you color them too dark you will get an unnatural expression.
Eyebrow pencil
An eyebrow pencil is also used to draw light eyebrows. Do not draw a straight line, this looks unnatural. Draw small lines with the pencil between your eyebrow hairs.
Eyebrow gel
Eyebrow gel is used to fix your eyebrows in shape. First brush the eyebrows and then apply a thin layer of gel.
